WANT TO RESEARCH YOUR OWN FAMILY HISTORY?

Researching family history is fun and rewarding....

The first step I took in searching for my Family History was to take a pen & paper out to the Family Cemetery. I wrote down all the names & dates pertaining to my family Surname. This gave me some names and a place to start. I then purchased a Family Tree software for my computer and began to search for information on the web.

The following Free Information Links proved to be very helpful in gathering my Family History:

Research Tips:

Be sure to evaluate the source of your information. Remember, you can't believe everything you read! Once you evaluate and the information proves to be correct, make sure to keep a record of all your sources. You may need them to prove your information later on.

Remember, most everyone has two family names: your father's, but also your mother's. Don't feel you must restrict your research to just your paternal family tree. You can research both at the same time because when you run in to a dead-end in one area, you can pick up the trail somewhere else for awhile. Searching many lines at once will also help to keep you from getting discouraged.
